We hope you enjoyed your week away from us but Old Home Week is now upon us, and we are back to more racing!
The Birthplace of Confederation Series is brand new to Red Shores this year. This is a great option for local horses that aren't in the Gold Cup and Saucer mix. There are only three Maritime/ local horses races in the two Gold Cup and Saucer trials. The Birthplace of Confederation Series is sponsored by the City of Charlottetown in Memory of Brian Andrew. Brian and the Andrew family of Meridian Farm have been an advocate, owner, breeder, trainer, driver and promoter of Standardbred racing the Maritimes. The industry lost Brian in December 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. This series will be a great way to keep the enthusiasm that Brian emulated as the industry goes forward without one of its pillars. The series will consist of two divisions this Saturday night with purses of $5000 each. The top four in each division will race on Gold Cup night for a purse of $10 000. Harry has drawn post position 3 in the first division, Race 7, which will go to post at 8:48 pm. We'll update tomorrow night with some options to visit Woodmere Farm and the Matheson Stable during Old Home Week. Also, if you are thinking of attending more than once, than a week long pass is $25 and available from Murphy Pharmacies, Red Shores gift shop and the Old Home Week office. Comments are closed.
