Gold cup and saucer night!

8/17/2019

Good news and bad news

8/15/2019

We have some good news- when Harry goes to post in Race 12 at 10:45pm on Gold Cup night in the Birthplace of Confederation Final, he’ll be able to hear you loud and clear because he’ll be the closest horse to the crowd! Bad news is, that’s because he’ll be in post position 8, the position with the toughest sledding and lowest win percentage...
The way this race is going to shape up is there will be alot of early speed from the first four horses, with some of North America's top drivers on the 1, 3, and 4, Harry will be lurking and looking for opportunities later in the race.
If you are curious about post position statistics, and why we always seem to talk about it, the win percentage goes from 17.3% at Post 1 to 6.9% at Post 8. Post positions 1-5 are all relativity even, then there is a rapid decline with post 6 and the outside positions. More details can be found on Standardbred Canada and the post position statistics for Red Shores Charlottetown can be found at this link https://standardbredcanada.ca/content/post-position-statistics-charlottetown-driving-park.html
We are pretty excited to have a horse racing in a race leading up to the Gold Cup and Saucer on Saturday night and we hope you are too!

First leg, birthplace of confederation series

8/11/2019

Harry raced great again last night, came in his last quarter in 28.2 to nip Woodmere Ideal Art for 2nd. Some interesting connections with this bunch. The winner, Do Over Hanover, is owned by a group including Don MacNeill, who is a Harrry shareholder and Don MacRae, whose grandson Denver is a Harry Shareholder. Woodmere Ideal Art, who finished 3rd, was bred and raised at Woodmere and is owned by Dawn Hubbard of Ultimate Stables, who is also an owner in Rollwithitharry Racing. Lots to cheer for!
Harry will race next Saturday evening on Gold Cup night in the final for the Birthplace of Confederation Series.
If you are attending Old Home Week this Wednesday or Thursday evening, be sure to look for the Rollwithitharry babies racing in the Atlantic Stakes action as they try to get this racehorse stuff figured out.
Thanks to everyone who stopped out at Woodmere this rainy evening. Some photos are attached of Harry's yearling babies enjoying attention from shareholders while they visited Woodmere. Feel free to stop by anytime.

Old Home week is here!

8/7/2019

We hope you enjoyed your week away from us but Old Home Week is now upon us, and we are back to more racing!
The Birthplace of Confederation Series is brand new to Red Shores this year. This is a great option for local horses that aren't in the Gold Cup and Saucer mix. There are only three Maritime/  local horses races in the two Gold Cup and Saucer trials. The Birthplace of Confederation Series is sponsored by the City of Charlottetown in Memory of Brian Andrew. Brian and the Andrew family of Meridian Farm have been an advocate, owner, breeder, trainer, driver and promoter of Standardbred racing the Maritimes. The industry lost Brian in December 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. This series will be a great way to keep the enthusiasm that Brian emulated as the industry goes forward without one of its pillars. The series will consist of two divisions this Saturday night with purses of $5000 each. The top four in each division will race on Gold Cup night for a purse of $10 000. Harry has drawn post position 3 in the first division, Race 7, which will go to post at 8:48 pm.
We'll update tomorrow night with some options to visit Woodmere Farm and the Matheson Stable during Old Home Week.
Also, if you are thinking of attending more than once, than a week long pass is $25 and available from Murphy Pharmacies, Red Shores gift shop and the Old Home Week office.

A week off for Harry

8/1/2019

Now that we're past Harness the Hope, we'll try our best to inform about not only Harry but the horse racing industry in general. So if you ever have any questions then please ask, we'll be glad to help.

Harry will take a week off this week and, in case you are wondering, we'll go through the 'why'.  A couple things to start: We have Harry with the Matheson family for a reason. They will always do what's best for your horse, which is no different then most training barns in our industry. Also, it was never our intention to race Harry every week. He's started 4 weeks in a row now and if we race this weekend and both weekends of Old Home Week then that would be 7 weeks in a row. By taking a pass on this week,  it allows the horses that are a notch better to sort themselves into a Gold Cup Trial. Then, the Preferred 1 class becomes a much more even group for all the horses. We will also then be good to go for 2 races Old Home Week.

We never get involved with the decision making of managing Harry. Overtime we've grown to understand it, but we always know that Ronnie is always going to do what's best for Harry. It's possible that skipping a tough race early in August might get you 4 more races later in the year; and that's good for Harry, Rollwithitharry Racing, and the industry!

We still have several Ownership Certificates, please if you haven't received yours then send us your address so we can mail it to you. The other option would be to pick it up at Matheson stable. Please let us know.

Harness the Hope Evening

7/28/2019

Last night was a fantastic night. Thank you to all of you who bought shares in Rollwithitharry Racing. In total, there are 205 shareholders for a grand total of $12,300 that Rollwithitharry Racing was able to contribute to Harness the Hope. Congratulations to Sam Gallant, the Harness the Hope Committee, the Dustin Family, Lee Drake and the Red Shores team for executing a tremendous night and raising $43,068 for the PEI Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer!

Harry raced super last night. He got away 3rd and let the others do all the work. Euchred tired a bit at the 3/4 and caused Harry to lose position by the 7/8. But then he showed his true athletic nature, coming from 7th at the top of the stretch to finish 3rd in 1:54.3. He was flying!

Congratulations to everyone, we hope Harry adds to the excitement for the rest of your summer. In the next few days, Ronnie will decide if Harry will take a week off before Old Home week or not and we will let you know. Racing and regular updates will continue until Harry tells us otherwise!

Photos attached are of the cheque presentation from Rollwithitharry Racing to Harness the Hope, Harry meeting shareholders Jordan and Eva Dingwell along with their parents, and Harry receiving some post-race black licorice from Doris Wood, thank you to Kara Irving for supplying the treats!

a good night for harry

7/21/2019

Sock It Away took a new winning record of 1.53.2 last night. Harry raced well, finishing 5th in 1.56. When the group goes down to the half in 56.2, and the 3/4 in 1.24.3, Harry knows that its going to be hard to make up any ground. Harry had lots of fans there to cheer him on and the bananas taste the same, win or lose. The great thing about harness racing is there's always next week!
After the race, Harry enjoyed meeting a few more shareholders.

Race Night July 20

7/20/2019

Harry had a great week. Tonight should be a fantastic race with the top horses in the Maritimes split between tonight's feature in Charlottetown and the $7500 Invitational in Truro. Harry will be post position 4 in race 10 at 8:42 pm.

Ronnie always enjoys driving Harry. Watch as the horses gather behind the starting gate on the backstretch, Harry will be shaking his head and throwing his nose at Ronnie saying "OK, I'm ready, let's get going here!".
It's a super class of horses, let's cheer them on either live or livestream! Harry and Ronnie will have a lot of fun regardless of the outcome.

Consequences of winning!

7/17/2019

Harry is in to go again on Saturday night. He will go from post 4 in race 10 at 8:40pm. When you do well in your last couple of races, the company usually gets a little richer! Harry will have to deal with Sock it Away again, as well as 3 of the horses that raced in last week's 25K Governor's Plate!! Gilles will be recovering off the bike for the next 4-6 weeks which means Harry will be in the more than capable hands of Ronnie Matheson this Saturday.
Just a reminder that although the stable is busy on Saturday night, feel free to contact us if you want to meet Harry before or after the race, or any other day

First Rollwithitharry racing win

7/14/2019

Harry is really liking his pink gear!  He got to meet some new friends in SSide including Premier Dennis King.  It was a fun night for Harry and all of his owners that made it out to cheer him on and all the yelling at your screens helped for sure too!  Thanks to the Matheson crew for all their work last night, it would have been a late night trucking 5 horses back to Ch'town and putting them away.
Harry's driver Gilles Barrieau had a serious accident on the track before the Governor's Plate race. He was taken to hospital and remains there today. We'd like to send him our best wishes from everyone at Rollwithitharry Racing.
With less then 2 weeks left to buy shares in Rollwithitharry Racing, let's all try to get one more shareholder each to help support Harness the Hope on July 27.
It will be a fun summer for everyone!
